Why Learn Microsoft 365 Copilot?
Microsoft Copilot is transforming the way Australians work. Embedded directly into Microsoft 365, Copilot acts as an AI assistant inside the tools you already use every day, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and more. In minutes, it can draft documents, summarise meetings, generate reports, analyse data, and respond to emails on your behalf.
But knowing Copilot exists is very different from knowing how to use it effectively. Most professionals who experiment with Copilot on their own plateau quickly — they get generic outputs, miss powerful features, and don't know how to write prompts that produce professional-quality results.
That's where our Microsoft Copilot training courses come in.
At Dynamic Web Training, we offer Australia's most practical, instructor-led Microsoft Copilot courses — delivered in small groups, with real-world exercises, by expert trainers who work with Microsoft technologies every day. Whether you're an individual looking to get ahead or an organisation rolling out Microsoft 365 Copilot across your workforce, we have a course designed for you.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: What setup do I need for live Copilot online training?
A: To get the best learning experience from Online Live training, you will need:
- A Windows PC or laptop (with a second screen/monitor)
- Broadband internet connection
- Microsoft Teams app installed
- A headphone/earbuds with a microphone. The ones that you use with your smartphone are sufficient.
- Microsoft Office installed
- PLEASE NOTE: Two business days before the course date, we will send the course invite email with MS Teams joining links and links to download the training files and course book.
Q: What is Microsoft Copilot, and how is it different from ChatGPT?
A: Microsoft Copilot and ChatGPT are both powered by large language models from OpenAI, but they serve different purposes. ChatGPT is a standalone AI assistant you access via a separate website or app. Microsoft Copilot is embedded directly into your Microsoft 365 applications: Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint. Copilot has access to your organisational data (with the permissions you have been granted), which means it can help you work with your actual documents, emails, and meeting content, not just generic information. For most business users, Copilot is the more immediately practical tool because it works inside the software you already use.
Q: How long does it take to learn Microsoft Copilot?
A: You can become productive with Microsoft Copilot in a matter of hours, which is why our one-day Copilot Essentials course delivers immediate, practical value. A full day of training gives you a comprehensive skill set across all major Copilot applications. That said, like any tool, your proficiency deepens with practice over the weeks following your training. Our free post-course email support is specifically designed to help you work through real scenarios as you apply your skills after the course.
Q: Do I need a special Microsoft licence to use Copilot?
A: Yes. Microsoft 365 Copilot (the full version embedded across all apps) requires a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence, which is an add-on to your existing Microsoft 365 subscription. As of 2026, this is available to subscribers of Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Business Standard, Business Premium, E3, and E5. There are also free or lower-cost versions of Copilot available, Copilot in Windows, Copilot in Bing, and limited Copilot features in the free Microsoft 365 tier, but these have less functionality. Our trainers can help you understand which Copilot tier you are working with at the start of your training.
Q: Do I need any technical background to attend Copilot training?
A: No. Our Copilot Essentials and Copilot for Productivity courses require no technical background. The only prerequisite is that you use Microsoft 365 applications in your daily work: Word, Outlook, Teams, and so on. Copilot is designed for regular business users, and our training reflects that. You do not need to understand AI, machine learning, or programming to become highly effective with Copilot.
Q: What is prompt engineering, and why does it matter for Copilot?
A: A prompt is the instruction you give Copilot; the text you type to tell it what you want. Prompt engineering is the skill of writing prompts that reliably produce high-quality, relevant outputs. It is arguably the most important skill to develop when learning any AI tool, including Copilot. A poorly written prompt produces a generic, often unusable result. A well-crafted prompt produces output that is specific, accurate, and immediately useful. All of our Copilot courses include dedicated time for prompt-writing techniques, and participants leave with a personal prompt library for their specific role.
Q: Is Microsoft Copilot safe to use with confidential business information?
A: This is one of the most common questions we receive, and it is an important one. Microsoft 365 Copilot is built on Microsoft's enterprise security and compliance framework. It does not use your organisation's data to train AI models. It operates within your existing Microsoft 365 security boundaries, meaning Copilot can only access data that the user already has permission to access. For Australian organisations, Microsoft processes Microsoft 365 data in Australian data centres (Australia East and Australia Southeast regions), subject to the terms of your Microsoft agreement. Our training includes a dedicated section on responsible use, privacy considerations, and how to set appropriate expectations with your team about what Copilot should and should not be used for.
Q: Can Copilot replace the need-to-know Excel, Word, or PowerPoint?
A: Not entirely, and our training is honest about this. Copilot is a productivity multiplier, not a substitute for foundational software skills. The better your understanding of Excel, Word, or PowerPoint, the better you can direct Copilot and evaluate its outputs. A user who understands Excel formulas will immediately recognise whether a Copilot-suggested formula is correct. A user who has never used Excel may not. We recommend pairing Copilot training with foundational Microsoft skills training for participants who are less experienced. Our Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint courses can be bundled with Copilot training at a discounted rate.
Q: What is the difference between Microsoft Copilot and Microsoft Copilot Studio?
A: Microsoft Copilot is the AI assistant embedded in Microsoft 365 for end users. Microsoft Copilot Studio is a separate, low-code development tool that allows organisations to build custom AI agents and chatbots, essentially creating customised Copilot experiences tailored to specific business processes. Copilot Studio is aimed at IT professionals, developers, and power users who want to extend Copilot's capabilities. Our standard Copilot training courses cover the end-user Copilot experience. If your organisation is interested in Copilot Studio or custom Copilot agents, contact us to discuss a tailored program.
Q: Can Dynamic Web Training deliver Copilot training at our office?
A: Yes. We regularly deliver on-site corporate training at client premises across Sydney, Melbourne, and other Australian cities. Our trainers bring a structured program, customised to your organisation's environment and use cases, directly to your team. On-site training is ideal for groups of 10 or more participants. Contact us to discuss your requirements.
Q: How quickly is the Copilot training content updated as Microsoft releases new features?
A: Microsoft releases Copilot updates frequently. Our training team reviews and updates course materials each time a significant feature is released. If you have a specific new Copilot feature you want covered in your training, let us know when you book and we will ensure it is included.
Q: Can I get a group discount for my team?
A: Yes. We offer group pricing for bookings of five or more participants attending the same course. For larger corporate programs, we provide custom pricing based on group size, session count, and degree of customisation required. Contact us on 1300 888 724 to discuss your requirements.
Q: How can I book my free repeat Copilot class?
A: Dynamic Web Training offers FREE and UNLIMITED repeat classes for up to 8 months from the original course dates. These repeat classes are a great way to consolidate skills over an extended period!

Student Reviews
i thought Alex was great, first time on Copilot thought it was great. looking forward to using all that we discussed, it will be a great tool for me. can not pick one thing I believe they will all be valuable.
I really appreciated how practical the course was. It was hands on and of course the number of people attending allowed that great personalisation. Very easy to understand and Alex was excellent in his delivery and his knowledge. I really benefitted from all the tips - small but high impact. Using speech services, thumbs up, personalisation of content and styles, creating images, using Claude.
I really enjoyed this course. As a person who has had no experience using Copilot it provided me with an excellent overview of its capabilities and also some ideas about how I can utilise it. I would be interested in attending future training on specific applications and uses of copilot at a deeper level once I have had an opportunity to digest all of this information.
prompting refresher, scheduling prompts, leveraging brand guidelines, overall the 1 day overview was a great taster. Ali is easy to listen to and it was an engaging session especially with everyone's cameras on
A lot to take in. I think it would've helped me better if I already had access to the premium copilot. It's given me food for thought and I'll see how I can use it moving forward with all things Microsoft 365
Overall, I really appreciated the convenience of the live online learning. I gained a lot of valuable knowledge and will be applying what I learned in my day-to-day work. It would be helpful to receive a schedule outlining when breaks will occur prior to the course day, to assist with planning.
The course was fantastic. There is a comprehensive 'sandpit' / mock business to play with the real world possibilities of copilot. Was great to see how copilot can be pracgtically applied to maximise knowledge potential (this was not written by AI :)) Ali was patient and the course went at a good pace. I think this could even be a two day course where you can do a deeper dive into some of the applications.
Excellent summary of Copilot. This has opened my eyes to the possibilities of this in my organization. The only negative is that there is so much to take on board. I would also like some further resources to assist with using Copilot in each app.
Functionality well explained and demonstrated Helpful to have on screen prompt on what was asked in introductions of students Timer also useful when we had our breaks Number of breaks was perfect and timely
Copilot is a powerful and useful application in the workplace. I especially enjoyed exploring the Agents feature, as well as creating applications and using Copilot within Word, Excel, and other tools. While the session covered many topics in a short amount of time—making it difficult to fully absorb everything—it was still very helpful for gaining a solid introduction to what Copilot can do.
